Hello, things that are on the horizon and on my mind are mainly that Phil and I are doing a full-length Songbox Band gig in a pub called the Sir Charles Napier in Brighton. Most of our gigs over the last 18 months have been around the 45 minute mark either online or in the flesh and a full-length to ask means two sets of 45 minutes. This two means that we get to visit some songs that we hardly ever do plus we get the chance of knocking up some as yet unheard songs. We are even considering playing a cover version. I shan’t spill the beans here but we are in the early stages of knocking it into shape. It is a complete reworking of a well-known song by a well-known band but, rest assured, will be played with a Songboxian spirit.

I have played in pubs nearly all my musical life. Such a familiar scene. We’ll be busting in through the door and hour and a half and a half before showtime, we shall be a friendly inconvenience to punters by moving them from from their tables so we can set up in our corner, and at 9 o’clock we shall be taking over the reins from whatever is playing through the pubs music system. This will be our first proper pub gig here since before Covid and it will be interesting to see if things feel differently from before.
